Graco My Ride 65 – The Problem?
Graco’s decision to recall these My Ride 65 seats was prompted by recent findings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The NHTSA is an organisation that is involved in the regulation and testing of car seat safety issues and their crash tests revealed a potentially very serious defect with the My Ride 65 seats.
The problem is that the My Ride 65 seat failed to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (No, 213) because the webbing on the seat’s harness system does not provide adequate restraint in the event of crash.
They found and increased risk of the webbing breaking in a serious collision and this means that any child using one of these seats would be more vulnerable to serious injury than is acceptable.
Graco My Ride 65 – Affected Seats?
There are thought to be about 25,494 affected seats, all of which were manufactured between May and August of 2014.
All seats affected by this webbing defect also have the webbing tag code of “2014/06”.
So, your seat is only covered by this Recall Notice if it was manufacture between the above dates AND it also has the webbing tag code of “2014/06”. If it doesn’t meet both of those criteria then you can simply carry on using the seat without needing to take any action.
