BOB Revolution Pro Stroller Review

May 16, 2017 By Kristian

This my BOB Revolution Pro Stroller Review and I hope that it helps you to decide whether or not this is the best option for you and your baby.

The BOB 2016 Revolution Pro Jogging Stroller is one of a handful of new products introduced by this manufacturer in 2016 for those parents who like to get some exercise with their baby.

The Revolution Pro model is their top-of-the range jogging stroller. They have taken the very popular BOB Revolution SE stroller and added some really nice improvements to make it a far more user-friendly product.

There is also a new BOB 2016 Revolution Flex stroller available, which has some of the improvements over the SE model, but it does NOT come with the hand brake that can only be found on the Pro model.

So, what features can you expect to find on the BOB Revolution Pro Jogging Stroller?

BOB 2016 Revolution Pro Jogging Stroller Explained

It is actually quite hard to explain on paper just how well a stroller works, so I am not going to provide you with a long and detailed description of each and every little feature that the BOB 2016 Revolution Pro comes with.

Many of the features are self-explanatory and I have included some helpful videos towards the bottom of this page that will give you a much better idea of how the Revolution Pro functions.

There are some important safety and convenience features that I do want to explain though. I also want to tell you about the 2 great new features that make the Revolution Pro Stroller a big improvement over the older Revolution SE version.

1. The BOB 2016 Revolution Pro – Best Features

You can find the full list of specifications below but, in my opinion, the BOB 2016 Revolution Pro Stroller’ s best features are as follows.

Firstly, it comes with an absolutely huge canopy to offer maximum protection for your baby whatever the weather conditions. There is not much point owning a jogging stroller if you can only go out in it when the weather is perfect.

Secondly, the stroller is very easy to fold flat so that you can transport it to your favorite jogging location without having to buy a ridiculously over-sized vehicle.

Thirdly, the suspension can be adjusted to suit the terrain.

Finally, it just functions really well as a jogging stroller. Some other models that claim to be jogging strollers are in fact more accurately described as “hybrids” because the manufacturers have tried to please all people all of the time and have compromised on some of the “jogging” functionality.

The BOB 2016 Revolution Pro is a genuine jogging stroller. Having said that, it can be used around town perfectly well. Unlike the BOB Ironman Stroller, it does not have a fixed front wheel for those that just want a jogging stroller and nothing more.

2. The BOB 2016 Revolution Pro – 2 New Features

Adjustable Handlebar

Unlike the basic SE model, the Revolution Pro stroller comes with a an adjustable handlebar.

The lack of an adjustable handlebar was perhaps the most important feature that was missing from the Revolution SE and prevented it from being even more popular that is actually was, especially amongst those parents who were significantly shorter or taller than average.

If you want to safely use a jogging stroller, you really need to be able to set the handlebar at a height that is comfortable for you and not some perceived “average” person. Parents come in all different shapes and sizes and having to stoop down or reach up whilst using a jogging stroller brings a risk of injury that can be avoided with the Revolution Pro’s adjustable handlebar.

There are 9 different height settings for you to choose from when using the Revolution Pro stroller and they range between about 34 and 45 inches. Unless you are 8 feet tall you ought to be able to find the perfect height setting.

Hand Brake

The Revolution Pro stroller’s other big improvement over the Revolution SE model is that it comes with a hand brake as well as a parking foot brake.

Whilst the foot brake is perfectly adequate for parking the stroller when not in motion, it cannot be used to slow the stroller down or stop quickly in an emergency situation.

The additional hand brake on the Revolution Pro stroller is primarily designed for those parents who like to jog up and down hills and it really does provide some much needed extra control on the way down.

But, even if you are just taking a gentle walk in an area that has some declines, it is much easy to control the stroller and prevent it from getting away from you if you are able to squeeze a hand brake to maintain a comfortable pace. Just as an incorrectly positioned handlebar can cause injury, so too can having to use your back to pull back on the stroller as you come down a hill.

I have used jogging strollers with and without hand brake. Based upon my experience of the differences involved, I would never go back to using a jogging stroller without a hand brake.

3. The BOB 2016 Revolution Pro – Other Features

The other features that you can find on the BOB 2016 Revolution Pro are:

  • Swiveling front wheel for improved maneuverability
  • Locking front wheel for stability when jogging or using in tough terrain
  • Easy, two step folding system.
  • Lightweight frame
  • Adjustable suspension system gives a smooth ride
  • Accessory adapter allows for quick & easy attachment of the Infant Car Seat Adapter or Snack Tray. Infant Car Seat Adapters available for BRITAX/BOB, Graco, Chicco and Peg Perego infant seats.
  • Comfortable Ultra-padded, adjustable reclining seat
  • Five point padded harness
  • Very Large Multi-position canopy
  • High-impact polymer composite wheels with pneumatic tires
  • Adjustable Padded handlebar for comfort
  • Hand Brake
  • Extra-large Low Boy Cargo Basket
  • Integrated pockets to store snacks, drinks and other necessities
  • Wrist strap to prevent stroller escaping
  • Limited five-year warranty on the frame & one-year on the small parts and fabric

4. BOB 2016 Revolution Pro – Safety Issues

You should make sure to read the User Manual carefully prior to using any jogging stroller and this is not a full description of every single safety issue that you need to be aware of.

Perhaps the most important thing for new parents to understand is that you cannot jog using one of these strollers with a newborn baby onboard.

The relevant age restrictions for each mode of use are as follows:

  • 0 to 8 weeks – walk only with Car Seat Adaptor (stroller itself does not recline enough for a newborn baby)
  • 8 weeks to 8 months – Walk Only (no need to use Car Seat Adaptor)
  • 8 months to 5 years – Walk or Jog (Can go Off-Road)

The maximum child weight for the Revolution Pro Stroller is 75 pounds.

The maximum child height for Revolution Pro Stroller is 44 inches.

Also, it is always advisable to use the wrist strap when jogging and and you must make sure that the seat is in the upright position.

Here are the 3 fabric color options for the BOB 2016 Revolution Pro Jogging Stroller.

Video Reviews of the BOB 2016 Revolution Pro

Here are some useful Video Reviews of the BOB Revolution Pro Jogging Stroller .

The first video contains a more detailed description of the basic features that all of the BOB Jogging Strollers share.

The second video is a specific review of the Pro model.

Finally, the third video describes the differences between the Flex and Pro models.

BOB Revolution Pro Stroller – My Verdict

The BOB Revolution Pro stroller is a massive improvement over the older SE model.

If you are trying to keep fit by using a jogging stroller, but want to avoid developing a bad back (or other injury) just because the handlebar is fixed in a position that is inappropriate for your height, then the Pro model really is worth the extra cash. Being a parent of small children is hard enough as it is without being incapacitated due to the inflexible design of a jogging stroller!

The hand brake is also a very useful addition on the Pro model and, again, it is worth paying for if you intend to use your stroller in an area that has gradients of any significant degree.

If you can do without the hand brake, but want to be able to adjust the handlebar to suit your height, then you should check out of the Flex model instead.
