Harness to Booster seats are a great option for those who need to transition their child from an infant car seat or a convertible car seat once they have outgrown the maximum height/weight limits on those seats.
Harness to Booster seats allow your child to continue to enjoy the safety benefits of a 5-point harness for a period of time before they need to use the seat as a belt-positioning booster seat instead. They are a better option than simply transferring your child immediately to a highbacked booster seat.
The most expensive harness to booster seats can cost upwards of $400 and not everyone has that sort of money available to spend on a car seat.
While seats such as the Britax Grow With You ClickTight Plus and the Diono Radian 3QXT Plus are really great products, their price tags put them out of reach for many parents. If you do have more than $200 to spend on a harness to booster car seat, you can find out what additional features you get for your money here.
The good news is that you can still buy a high quality harness to booster car seat that is packed with safety and comfort features for under $200 in 2023. It may not have all of the features found on the more expensive seats, but it will have passed rigorous safety tests and will have most of the essential features.
When looking for a harness to booster seat for under $200, I have excluded the very cheap and nasty looking seats from unfamiliar manufacturers. Just because you have a restricted budget, there is no reason for you to have to buy a poorly-made product that is lacking in some basic features and that may fall apart before your child has finished using it.
So, which is the best harness to booster seat under $200?
If I had a budget of $200 to buy a harness to booster seat for my child to use in 2023 and onwards, there is one seat that stands out from the crowd. It is manufactured by a reputable car seat company and has many of the safety and convenience features that you would expect to find on a more expensive seat.
In my opinion the best harness to booster seat under $200 is the Chicco MyFit.
Chicco MyFit Seats – The Features
The Chicco MyFit harness to booster seat offers excellent safety and comfort features at a more affordable price than the Britax and Diono products.
The Chicco MyFit comes with a good range of headrest and recline options, and benefits from a reinforced steel frame and side impact protection layers. The harness can also be adjusted without it having to be re-threaded, which saves a lot of time and stress when these adjustments need to be made as your child grows.
You can learn all about those great features (and much more) from the list below and from the video review towards the bottom of this page.
Of course, you can’t expect to get each and every feature that comes with the more expensive seats.
The most obvious compromise that you will have to accept with the Chicco MyFit seat when compared with the more expensive harness to booster seats is that, although the minimum child weight limit is the same as, for example, the Britax Grow With You Seat (25 pounds), the maximum weight limit is just 100 pounds. This compares with the 120 pound upper limit found on the Britax and Diono ranges of harness to booster seats.
For some, this difference in maximum weight limit will be an issue (especially if your child is much heavier than average), but for many more it won’t be much of a concern and will not prevent you from getting many years of use from the seat.
As for the maximum height limit, the Chicco MyFit is suitable for use up to 57 inches, which is exactly the same as the Diono Radian seats, but is less than the 63 inch height limit on the Britax Grow With You seats.
