US Price: Check Here
UK Price: £525
Stroller Weight: 28 lbs
Stroller Width: 25.75 inches
Max Child Weight: 45 lbs per seat
The Good – Travel system compatible with adaptor (sold separately) and with a second seat added can be used in 16 different configurations; Adjustable height handlebar; very large basket underneath; very easy to fold down and put up; folds pretty flat for easy carriage and storage. Nice big wheels for a smooth and comfortable ride; No re-thread adjustable 5-point harness makes it very quick and easy to modify the straps to fit your growing child.
The Bad – Quite expensive; heavier than the City Mini Stroller (almost 12 lbs more) and the City Mini GT (almost 7 lbs more).
The Bottom Line – The Baby Jogger City Select is an award winning stroller with some unique features to make transporting your baby or babies a much more enjoyable and convenient experience. It can used as a single stroller or a double stroller (with extra seat and adaptor) – in double stroller mode there are no fewer than 16 different configurations (see image below). It is heavier than the other stroller in the “City” series, but this does NOT make it difficult to manoeuvre or harder to fold flat when not in use.
Baby Jogger City Select Stroller – Overview
This is my fully independent and objective Baby Jogger City Select Stroller Review.
For those of you that prefer a visual demonstration of a stroller’s features, here is a great little video overview of the Baby Jogger City Select’s key features:
Although this video shows the pre-2014 model of this stroller in action, the main features have not been significantly altered and you can still get a pretty good idea of how it works.
There is a video demonstration of the 2014 Model here:
The Baby Jogger City Select’s Great Features
Telescoping Adjustable Handle
The Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller has a fixed height non-adjustable handle that causes some people some problems.
The City Select, however, comes with a fantastic telescopic adjustable handle that will suit parents of all shapes and sizes.
The handle height is adjusted quickly and simply by pressing the gray button on its underside whilst pulling the handle up to the required height (see videos above).
Hand Brake
Unlike most strollers, the City Select comes with a hand brake instead of a foot brake. I suspect that for many people this won’t be much of an issue, but for the minority of parents that find it difficult to operate a foot brake, this will be a very welcome addition.
I can certainly see that this feature would make it much easier to secure the stroller in a parked state if you were wearing certain types of footwear or if you had a physical disability that affected your lower limbs.
To operate the brake, you just pull up the lever at the side of the handlebar. obviously, you just release it back down when you are ready to go again. Since the brake is positioned on the handlebar, you can actually operate it from the side and from in front of the stroller, rather than needing to be behind it.
Canopies
Just like the other Baby Jogger strollers, the canopy on this stroller is excellent. Unlike many other stroller canopies, the ones on the City Select are absolutely huge and fold down easily in 3 separate panels.
They also come with UV50+ sun protection, but have 2 peek-a-boo windows in each canopy so that you can keep any eye on your babies when you want to.
One other thing to note is that, unlike the old Baby Jogger City Mini strollers, the peek-a-boo windows on the City Select have a magnetic opening and closing mechanism rather than velcro fastenings. This means that you can take a look at your child without the risk of waking them up with a noisy ripping sound!
As for the canopy size, ask any parent that has had to suffer the problem of inadequate canopy coverage and they will tell you that this can be a really big problem in sunny weather conditions.
The last thing that you and your child need on a hot day is the sun blaring down on their face because of poor canopy coverage. Not only will it be uncomfortable for your child and prevent them from sleeping, but it can also be a health risk.
The City Select’s oversized canopy will avoid these problems and it is one of my favourite features for that very reason.
Easy Folding Mechanism
The City Select folds quickly and easily into a pretty flat unit.
You simply pull up on the handles at the side of the stroller and it automatically folds flat – once folded down, you can secure it in the collapsed position with a retaining clip. To open the stroller unit out, you simply undo the retaining clip (if used) and pull on the handle to see it open up.
The easy folding mechanism is one of the most often mentioned features in other user reviews.
This mechanism is better demonstrated than described in words and I suggest that you watch any of the videos above to see just how easy it is to fold the stroller up and down.
Converts to Double Stroller (16 Configurations)
You can purchase an adaptor and extra seat for the City Select Stroller.
The 2 seats can then be arranged into one of 16 different configurations depending upon your specific needs.
Adjustable Seat(s)
The seats on the City Select have a child weight limit of 45 lbs each and are fully adjustable with multiple recline positions.
The multi-position footwell is a great way to give your child a little extra leg room when they get taller and helps to prevent them from feeling squashed/restricted.
The Wheels
The City Select is fitted with 8 inch lightweight front wheels that can swivel to make this stroller very manoeuvrable. The 12 inch forever-air rear tires allow the City Select to cover all kinds of terrain without worrying about getting a puncture, because the forever-air feature simply means that the tires are filled with a special foam substance rather than air.
Very Large Storage Basket
One of the main complaints about the Baby Jogger City Mini models was the rather small storage basket underneath the seat(s). Whilst there were ways around this problem (e.g. clips that attach to the handle to hang shopping bags from), it would have been nice if they had supplied a larger basket in the first place.
The City Select, however, comes with a much larger storage basket. There is also a zip mechanism fitted to the rear of the basket to make access much easier too – no more trying to squeeze the cereal boxes through the space between the wheels and the stroller frame! See the videos above for a better illustration of the impressive size of the storage basket.

Nice review Kristian.
I think that has to be the buggy of choice for the many a first time parent. And am loving the ability to adjust is so many ways!

Thanks for you comment Tony.
I agree that this is a fantastic stroller. I just wish that it had been on the market when my twins were born. We used the Baby Jogger City Mini Double Stroller instead, which was an excellent product but it had nothing like the flexibility of the City Select. If we ever have any more kids, the City Select will definitely be at the top of our wish list.

We bought this buggie when we had our first daughter & have kept the second seat in the loft until our second child arrived more recently. I am delighted with it! Although it was a bit more pricey than some of the other options on the market (and a lot less well known), it has been perfect for our requirements & we can still use the second seat for our older daughter (now 3).
I love that I can face the girls towards each other for more sociable outings & both towards me when I’m trying to encourage naps! Also, Im pleased you mentioned the hand break & extendable handlebar….both really good design features.

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience with this stroller. It is a wonderfully creative and versatile piece of engineering. Baby Jogger really have thought of everything that a parent could want by making it possible to rearrange the stroller to suit different situations. I hope that you continue to enjoy using it for a little while yet. Apart from the price being out of reach for some parents, I can’t really think of any other negatives about it.

The 16 different configurations are what is great about this stroller. The second seat option also is an added bonus, while not unique to this stroller… it’s handy if you end up with having a second child 😀
Oh it is very light as well..
Thanks for the review

Thanks for the advice. We are also in the market for a special needs stroller and you’ve given me hope that there’s something out there
