List Price: $199
Weight Range: 4 to 30 lbs
The Good – The Number 1 Rated Infant Car Seat in America; Very easy to install and adjust using the “centre-pull” mechanism and the bubble level indicators; Removable full body inserts for newborn babies between 4-11 lbs; Energy-absorbing foam for improved side-impact protection; Compatible with the Chicco Cortina, Together, Liteway Plus, and Caddy Frame Strollers.
The Bad – It takes 2 hands to unlock/move the handle (a relatively minor problem); If you live in a very hot climate, the seat can heat up slightly more than others.
The Bottom Line – The Chicco Keyfit 30 is a very popular premium infant car seat. It is comfortable, great for newborn babies and packed full of great safety features. Car seats don’t become popular by accident – parents all over America rave about how great this seat is and the safety tests justify their enthusiasm!

Chicco Keyfit 30 – Overview
The Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Car Seat is designed for babies weighing between 4 – 30 lbs. The height restriction of 30 inches is slightly lower than the Britax B-Safe 35. However, it weighs in at 21.2 lbs, making it heavier than other similar premium models to carry around. The Britax B-Safe is unusually tall in terms of its height restrictions and the Chicco Keyfit’s 30 inches is more than adequate. Current advice is to keep baby in a rear-facing car seat for as long as they remain within the maximum weight/height limits due to the greater degree of safety afforded by these types of seats. The American Academy of Paediatrics recommends that children remain rear-facing until they are at least 2 years of age.
Chicco boasts that the Keyfit 30 is the “premier infant carrier for safety, comfort, and convenience.” Having read hundreds of other Chicco Keyfit 30 Reviews, Chicco’s boast appears to be well justified. The seat is packed full of safety features and is very popular amongst car seat safety technicians.
One thing that stands out from the user reviews is the ease of installation. Since research suggests that up to 75% of car seats are incorrectly installed (a truly horrifying statistic!), this is a very important safety feature. There is no point in buying a car seat packed with great safety features if you are unable to fit it correctly.
The seat is supplied with 1 base and additional bases can be bought separately.
The Chicco Keyfit 30 can be installed using the LATCH connectors or the adult seat belt.

Value for Money
It is not the cheapest infant car seat on the market, but you won’t hear many parents who have owned it complaining about its price.
The Chicco Keyfit 30 is certainly not overpriced when compared with its competitors.
You can make the cost even easier to bear if you combine it with one of the strollers listed above as part of a “travel system”.
