Britax Grow With You ClickTight – Introduction
Whilst the Grow With You ClickTight Plus seat retains the familiar shape and styling of the Frontier 90 Car Seat, Britax have updated it and given it a slightly more contemporary look.
There are 3 different seats in the Britax Harness-to-Booster range. The 3 seats are:
Britax Grow With You ClickTight Plus.
Britax Grow With You ClickTight.
The Britax Grow With You ClickTight seat is the middle-of-the range model within their range of harness-to-booster car seats and comes with all of the safety and convenience features that can be found on the top-of-the-range “ClickTight Plus” model (see below).
As a true harness-to-booster car seat, it is rated for use with kids weighing between 25 and 120 lbs, between 34 and 63 inches in height, and it is the perfect upgrade when your child outgrows their infant car seat. For that reason, it could well be the last car seat that you will ever have to buy for your child before they become old enough and big enough to safely use the vehicle seatbelt on its own for restraint.

Here are the main features that can be found on the Britax Grow With You ClickTight Seat.
#1 Child Height & Weight Limits
I have already mentioned the overall weight limits for the Britax Grow With You ClickTight harness-to-booster seats, but you also need to pay careful attention to the fact that each of the modes of use has different weight/height ranges.
A reminder …
The overall weight limits are between 25 and 120 lbs.
The overall height limits are between 34 and 63 inches.
The ClickTight seat comes with the following child height and weight limits for use in the harness and booster modes, which are as follows.
Harness Mode – 25 to 65 lbs / 34 to 49 inches.
Booster Mode – 40 to 120 lbs / 44 to 63 inches.
It is best to try to keep your child in the harness mode for as long as they are within the weight and height limits, even if they are technically eligible to use the seat in booster mode.
It’s just generally safer that way. Why give up the added benefits of the 5-point harness before you absolutely have to?
#2 Safecell Technology
As with previous ranges of Britax seats, the base of the Grow With You ClickTight seat benefits from the inclusion of Britax’s Safecell crumple zone, which is designed to provide added protection in the event of a collision.
In short, the impact-absorbing Safecell base comprises a red “honeycomb” structure that helps to absorb crash forces in the event of an accident.

#3 Harness & Headrest Adjustment
Obviously, since the Grow With You ClickTight is a harness-to-booster seat, it comes with a 5-point harness.
There are a total of 9 different harness height options and you can change the harness position as your child grows by simply pressing the handle at the top of the seat and moving it upwards or downwards as required.
There is no need to re-thread the harness itself while making these adjustments.
Once your child has outgrown the harness, it can be conveniently stowed away so that the vehicle seatbelt can be used to restrain your child while it is being used in the booster seat mode.
#4 Seat Recline Options
There are 2 different recline options to choose from.
#5 Seat Installation Options
The reason that the Grow With You ClickTight seat carries the “ClickTight” label is due to the ways in which the seat can be installed in your vehicle.
As the product names suggests, the ClickTight version comes fitted with the Britax ClickTight Installation System.
The ClickTight model can also be installed using the lower LATCH connectors and then, later on, the vehicle seat belt, but it also comes with the added option of being installed using the Britax ClickTight Installation System.
The Britax ClickTight installation system is not an entirely new concept as it has been used by Britax very successfully on their range of convertible car seats for many years, before it was added to their harness-to-booster seat range.
So, what is the Britax ClickTight installation system?
The ClickTight installation system involves a simple 3-stage process. You open the compartment, you feed the seat belt through the appropriate route, and then you close the compartment until you hear the “click”.
The ClickTight installation mechanism on its own does not make the car seat any safer, but there is a very important indirect safety benefit for some parents in using the ClickTight system.
Installing convertible car seats using the vehicle’s seat belt can be difficult for many parents and, as a result, mistakes are often made. Research suggests that up to 75% seats are installed incorrectly, which makes them unsafe.
So, any mechanism that makes it easier to achieve a safe installation is to be welcomed.

#6 Side Impact Protection
The main difference between the ClickTight Plus seat and the ClickTight seat is that the “Plus” model comes with a total of 3 layers of side impact protection, which is one more layer than the other 2 seats.
The 2 layers of side impact protection that are found on both seats are located in the headrest and torso areas.
The extra layer of side impact protection that comes with the ClickTight Plus seat is called Side Impact Cushion Technology and can be seen in the image below. It is what makes the Plus model look so much wider at the head/shoulder part of the seat.
This does not mean that the standard ClickTight version has poor side impact protection. Its side impact protection features are significantly greater than those required by the relevant Federal safety standards. It’s just that the “Plus” version has an extra element that can be seen in the image below.
#7 Seat Dimensions
As I briefly mentioned above, the rather obvious consequence of the additional SICT that is found on the Plus model is that it is wider than the standard seat.
The ClickTight Plus seat is 23 inches wide, whereas the standard ClickTight model is just 19 inches wide.
So, there is a difference of 4 inches in width at the widest point.
This makes the standard “ClickTight” version much more suitable for use in smaller vehicles, or by those who need to try to install 3 car seats side-by-side in the same row.
